Introduction

Kathmandu University (KU) stands as a testament to Nepal’s commitment to quality educational growth. It established in 1992 through private initiatives, KU has played a significant role in the development of higher education in the country. This autonomous, non-profit, non-government institution is dedicated to maintaining high academic standards and creating qualify leaders in various professional fields, through the provision of quality education.

Over a span of 15 years, KU has not only developed sound infrastructure it has also established a stellar reputation for academic excellence. Presently, the university offers a diverse range of undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs in science, engineering, medicine, management, education, arts, pharmacy, environment, music, human & natural resources, information technology, and biotechnology through its various schools, including the School of Science, School of Management, School of Engineering, School of Medical Sciences, School of Education, and School of Arts. In addition to the 3,369 students studying at its constituent campuses, there are 4,897 students enrolled in affiliated colleges. KU’s annually intake capacity is 1,088, which comprises 298 graduate, 280 intermediate, and 510 undergraduate students. The affiliated colleges have an annual intake capacity of 1,194 students.

From Humble Beginnings to Remarkable Growth

KU embarked on its journey from a humble rented building in Tangal, Kathmandu. Over the years, it has grown remarkably, with a built-up space of 35,518 square meters. Within just 15 years of its establishment, KU not only developed reasonable infrastructure but also earned a reputation for academic excellence.

Kathmandu University caters to a wide array of academic interests, offering various undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs. These programs span across disciplines such as science, engineering, medicine, management, education, arts, pharmacy, environment, music, human & natural resources, information technology, and biotechnology. The university houses multiple schools, including the School of Science, School of Management, School of Engineering, School of Medical Sciences, School of Education, and School of Arts.

Currently, KU accommodates 3,369 students in its constituent campuses and an additional 4,897 students in its affiliated colleges.
